Boundary Fire

The Boundary Fire, located about 20 miles Northeast of Fairbanks, is currently being managed by the Rocky Mountain Type I Incident Management Team. The lightning-caused fire was first detected on June 13. An atypical dry, hot Northeast wind, coupled with extreme drought conditions led to rapid expansion of this fire.
