Posted: May 30, 2008	Some DNR web applications and all Juneau based services unavailable Sunday, June 1, 2:00am - 2:00pm ADT DNR Web Applications that will be unavailable include: DNR's Recorder's Office UCC Online Filing Division of Parks Cabin Reservations Division of Parks Annual Park Pass Order Form Online Payments (Land and Mining Claims) Case File and Land Abstracts OUTAGE OF ALL SERVICES HOUSED IN OR ROUTED THROUGH JUNEAU 6/1/2008 2:00 AM- 2:00PM (12 hours) The Juneau Data Center (JDC) is currently out of power so ETS has initiated a major power upgrade project. Unfortunately converting to the new power requires a twelve hour outage of ALL of the equipment at the Juneau Data Center. This upgrade replaces 25+ year old equipment with a redundant system that will no longer have a single point of failure and make it easier to add power in the future. This outage will affect all systems housed in or routed through the Juneau Data center including email for all Juneau employees, most Web Mail statewide, email to/from mobile devices, network, phones, mainframe, and servers (see detailed list below). During the outage non-Southeast users in State offices will need to use Outlook, or access web mail at https://ancmail.soa.alaska.gov/exchange or from the State Home Page at http://www.alaska.gov The intent is to start the outage at 2:00 AM on June 1, 2008 (Sunday) and to have the power restored to the Data Center by 2:00 PM on June 1, 2008. In conjunction with the electrical upgrade, the halon fire suppression system will be armed and the automated tape library (ATL) relocated. The fire suppression system requires a six hour outage to all of the equipment that resides in the Juneau Data Center. This outage will begin at the same time as the power conversion on June 1st and should be completed by 8:00 AM. Moving the ATL requires a 24 hour outage of all mainframe tape processing. Any mainframe application that requires tape processing will be affected by this outage. The outage will begin at 2:00 AM on June 1, 2008 (Sunday) and tape processing will be restored by 2:00 AM June 2nd. ETS is researching the feasibility of temporary power feeds to PBX phones, ALMR, and SATS to lessen the impact of this outage on State of Alaska services. Date: 7/23/2003 Time: 7:40 AM ADT	DNR's Oracle Databases Unavailable Until Further Notice We are continuing to experience reduced performance on our Oracle Databases. This has slowed the progress of backing up our production data. Yesterday a battery that maintains the setup configuration within the high-speed disk array, housing all Oracle data files, was discovered to require maintenance. The recharge maintenance required up to 12 - 15 hours to complete, started yesterday afternoon. Customer support for the disk array reported that the system could be operating in a default mode, running at reduced performance levels. Hopefully rebooting the server and the disk array units will return the system back to normal performance levels. Once the offline backup for the production database completes, both systems will be rebooted. After which the Oracle database will be brought online. Therefore, the scheduled offline backup of production failed to run. Since the backup of our production database is so very important, the offline backup was started at 6:20 AM. The production database is not expected to be up until about 9 AM, should the decision is made to allow it to start. Additional repairs may be required before normal Oracle operations can resume.
